This site is dedicated to the memory of Dorothy Willetts.

We, as a family, would like to thank everyone who donated so generously to the Church of England Children's Society in memory of our dear aunt, Dorothy Willetts. Donations, to date, amount to just over £500. She would have been so proud as she had supported the Children's Society for most of her adulthood. Auntie was born in Chipping Norton and lived there for most of her life. Her father was the barber in the little shop in Middle Row where she was born on May 8th, 1922, the youngest of six children. Times were hard for her parents but their faith helped. Life for all the family revolved around the church and this faith remained with Auntie forever. Her career was spent working with children. First at a small school in Chippy vicarage and subsequently as school House Mistress at Oxford High School and then Matron at Hatherop Castle School. When she retired she returned to live full time in "Mary's Cottage", Church Street overlooking her beloved church. The cottage was a happy place, she made the never ending line of visitors very welcome and was always pleased to see you. A very popular lady, our favourite aunt is sadly missed. Our visits to Chippy will never be the same.
